If you exceed your minutes, standard rates apply at 44p per minute on a pay as you go plans to call 0344 numbers.

If you are on a monthly plan you will be charged 89p per minuet if you exceed your allowance. 

O2 offers various plans with call charges based on your specific plan.

Calls to 0344 numbers from inclusive minutes won’t incur extra charges.

The standard call charges for calling 0344 numbers on O2 outside of inclusive minutes are charged at 55p per minute. 

Vodafone offers a variety of plans for both monthly and pay as you go customers, with call charges based on your specific plan.

If you have inclusive minutes, calls to 0344 numbers are included.

However, if you exceed your minutes or have none left, charges will apply.

Introduced in 2007 by Ofcom, an 0344 number, together is a type of landline phone number that isn’t linked to a specific geographic area, unlike telephone numbers starting with 01 or 02. This means that callers can’t identify the geographical area they are calling. 

This is particularly popular with larger organisations and national charities that aren’t tied to a specific part of the country. 

How much does it cost to call an 0344 number?

0344 numbers are regulated by Ofcom, which means phone companies can’t charge customers more for calling one, compared to any other standard landline number, such as an 01 or 02 number. 

Being comparable to other landline numbers means calls to these numbers can also be included in minute allowances offered by the landline or mobile phone provider. This differs from 0800 numbers which are always free to call.  

 

If you dial an 0344 number after you’ve used up your free minutes allowance, the cost of the call will be charged at the standard landline rate used by your provider, whether calling on your mobile or from another landline.

  • Calls can be answered with an audio message to confirm who the caller dialled and be queued if busy. 
  • Other available functionalities include voicemail and call forwarding. 
  • If a business moves or expands into a different region, the same 0344 number can be kept. 
  • Calls can be easily redirected to a landline or mobile.
