The standard call charges for calling 0333 numbers on O2 outside of inclusive minutes are 35p per minute. However, if you are making calls to 0333 numbers from abroad, you will be chargeable on O2’s international rate for the country that you are in.
Vodafone offers a variety of plans for both monthly and pay as you go customers, with call charges based on your specific plan. If you have inclusive minutes, calls to 0333 numbers are included. However, if you exceed your minutes or have none left, charges will apply. Calling 0333 numbers on Vodafone’s Pay As You Go plan costs 30p per minute, but after using your bundle allowance, it’s 55p per minute. When calling 0333 numbers from abroad, charges will be based on Vodafone’s international rates for that country.

If you go over your allocated minutes or have none left, standard call charges will be applied. Calling 0333 numbers on Three outside of your inclusive minutes will cost 3p per minute. Introduced in 2007, an 0333 number, together with other 03 numbers, is a type of landline phone number that isn’t linked to a specific geographic area, unlike telephone numbers starting with 01 or 02. This means that callers can’t identify the geographical area they are calling.
This is particularly popular with larger organisations and national charities that aren’t tied to a specific part of the country.
0333 numbers are regulated by Ofcom, which means phone companies can’t charge customers more for calling one, compared to any other standard landline number, such as an 01 or 02 number.
Being comparable to other landline numbers means calls to these numbers can also be included in minute allowances offered by the landline or mobile phone provider. This differs from 0800 numbers which are always free to call.
If you dial an 0333 number after you’ve used up your free minutes allowance, the cost of the call will be charged at the standard landline rate used by your provider, whether calling on your mobile or from another landline.
0333 numbers provide an opportunity for national businesses to have a single telephone number for their entire organisation. It doesn’t matter if they have offices in several locations around the country, they can use one number with which they can be associated.
It’s also beneficial to businesses to know that an 0333 number is recognisable and broadly used, which gives people a sense of confidence that they are calling a genuine business. Potential customers will also be happier to use an 0333 number, as they won’t feel unfairly ‘penalised’ for doing so, whether calling from a landline or mobile phone.
If you are considering an 0333 number there are several other advantages for both you and your customers:
Providers of 0333 numbers offer a range of packages, each with different features. This is great for businesses as they can find an option suited to their budget, but it also means you only pay for features you want to use.
In a competitive world, it’s important for customers to be able to contact you easily. Although we have many ways at our disposal to contact a business, many people still prefer the reassurance of a voice at the end of a line.
