The short answer to this question is all devices. To ensure your business is properly protected we recommend that every device that has access to business data and is used for business purposes has a backup.

This is different for every industry for example, If the back-up plan is for a smaller business with three users who predominantly work on spreadsheets and PDFs, the storage for backing up these types of files is much lower than for example a videographer that shoots/edits 4K video.

In this instance, we work on a case-by-case basis and this can be explored within your initial call, decisions can then be made as to which services and hardware will provide the best data protection for your business.

Only you know the sensitivity level of your data. Depending on how private this data may be, you can opt for keeping their backups local (external hard drives) if you feel a cloud service would not be secure enough for the data you need to keep safe.

Cloud-based backups are much simpler to set up, quicker to reinstall and maintain for ease of use. 

You can retrieve your cloud backup instantly from any device and reinstall all files. This might take slightly longer from a physical hard drive.
