Integrating Microsoft Word with your other business applications

Using Microsoft software can be great for productivity and simple file creation. You may want to integrate your Word documents with other applications, which is possible so long as you follow the correct procedures.

Microsoft 365 is one of the favourite packages for UK businesses. As of 2023, there are approximately 330,084 UK businesses using Microsoft 365 for their document creation. Being able to integrate Microsoft Word with other applications can help you to really make the most of these services.

Why might you want to integrate your Microsoft Word documents?

Some members of your team may work remotely from time to time. This means they may not have access to specific apps and devices used when in the office. Should they need to work on different files, being able to integrate with other apps would be vital.

Likewise, issues with Microsoft may result in you needing IT support. In the meantime, you may still have files that need to be accessed or edited. Being able to re-open those documents in alternative applications can prevent downtime from having too much of an adverse effect on your working day.

Html integration

Being able to convert your Word files to html can help to simplify the website creation process. To do so, you can simply change the file type when saving. However, larger files may result in poor translation to html. Instead, you might want to use this for shorter walls of text.

Microsoft Word can allow you to see how your webpage would look once completed. This can be a great way to edit and adjust a new or existing webpage, and consider the different changes you could make, without affecting the main site itself. If something doesn’t look right, or even breaks, there is no risk to your live site. When you are happy with the changes, the file can then be saved and implemented if you choose to do so.

Google Docs integration

Google is another frontrunner for business document creation. Unlike Microsoft 365, Google Docs is entirely web-based for computers. This means that you cannot download the different applications onto your business PC.

If you cannot access Microsoft Word on a computer, you might instead want to use Google Docs. Although, realistically, if you can access the browser-based Google applications then you may as well simply use the Microsoft ones online.

Your clients, however, may not use Microsoft. If they are a primarily Google-based company, they will still need to be able to open your documents. Microsoft Word files automatically save in a .docx format, which can be opened by Google Docs.

WordPad integration

Alternatively, you may find that some people prefer to use the pre-installed Windows app WordPad. This desktop app is completely free to use and, as such, lacks some of the key features found in Microsoft Word.

If you get a new computer, this is likely to come pre-installed for your use. This means that you don’t need to wait around to sort out your Microsoft 365 licence on the new machine, especially if you have a busy day ahead. Knowing that there is a piece of software you can use in the meantime may help you to make the most of your day.

You can then sort out your licence and desktop apps at a time that suits you, then simply open the file as normal in Microsoft Word.

Why choose Microsoft 365 for your business?

Microsoft Word isn’t the only application you can make use of when you purchase a Microsoft 365 licence. You will gain access to the full range of Microsoft products on your desktop, web browser, and even in the form of handy mobile apps.
